Bay Food Bank
The BAY Foodbank was set up in February 2012 as a response to a need for emergency food provision to individuals or families experiencing a financial crisis. This crisis can happen when a family have no money because of low income, bereavement, benefit delay, redundancy, an unexpected bill or illness. People can be referred by churches, doctors, social services or other support agencies.
Food is donated by many churches, shops, schools, businesses, local government The Foodbank is now situated at The Barn in Meadow Well, where volunteers help to sort and date the food items, then pack it into necessary size parcels ready for delivery. Since February 2012, the Foodbank has provided for 10744 adults, 4851 children and 378 babies in the North Tyneside area. Since April 2015 alone we have provided for 2291 adults, 893 children and 75 babies.
